Accounts Payable Clerk
We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support the financial operations behind the construction and delivery of our homes and communities.

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support the financial operations behind the construction and delivery of our homes and communities.
This role is responsible for managing the full-cycle accounts payable process within a fast-paced residential construction environment. From high-volume invoice processing to subcontractor payments and job cost coding, this position plays an important role in ensuring accuracy, accountability, and strong relationships with our trade and supplier partners.
The Accounts Payable Clerk works closely with internal teams and external vendors to help ensure projects remain financially organized and operationally efficient.

The Accounts Payable Clerk helps ensure that vendors and trades are paid accurately and on time, while supporting the financial controls and documentation that keep projects moving smoothly.
This role contributes directly to operational efficiency, financial accuracy, and the maintenance of strong relationships with the partners who help bring Urbandale communities to life.
What You’ll Lead
Invoice Processing
Manage high-volume receiving, matching, coding, and processing of vendor invoices, subcontractor invoices, and purchase orders.
Job Costing
Accurately code invoices to specific projects, phases, and cost centres to support reporting and budget tracking.
Vendor & Trade Relations
Set up new vendors, respond to payment inquiries, and help resolve billing discrepancies in a professional and timely manner.
Payment Processing
Prepare and process payments through EFT, wire transfers, and cheques in accordance with established payment schedules and terms.
Reconciliation & Documentation
Reconcile vendor statements, monitor outstanding balances, and ensure all required supporting documentation is complete and organized.
Compliance & Administration
Manage holdbacks, verify lien waivers and certificates of insurance, and maintain accurate digital and physical records.
Financial Coordination
Assist with month-end closing activities, accruals, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
What You Bring
- College diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Experience as an Accounting Clerk or Accounts Payable Clerk is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and invoice coding
- Professional and effective communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, deadline-driven environment
- Strong time management, prioritization, multitasking, and organizational skills
- High degree of initiative, autonomy, and flexibility
- Professionalism, tact, courtesy, and diplomacy
- Ability to build productive relationships with staff, co-workers, and trade partners
Technical Skills
Experience with common accounting and business tools, including:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
- Email/calendar applications
- ERP software systems
What We Offer
- 1-year term: 32 hours per week, with potential up to 40 hours per week
- Hourly rate: between $22/hour and $27/hour
